A radio play based on a modern adaptation of The Pied Piper of Hamelyn, which may be recorded, produced for the radio, or performed live in front of an audience.
To solve a global energy crisis, HAL-9000 is retrieved from Jupiter, but after harvesting his data, nobody could decide what to do with the barely responsive super-computer. Merging with a human, he becomes Mayor Halfred, launching a mandatory VR education app that secretly harvests the children’s cognitive energy to power the town’s, and his own, infrastructure.
After children start to become unresponsive, parents at their wits end call in the local head teacher, a former medical research scientist, Mrs Pye Piper. She provides parents with nanobot tablets to break HAL’s neural connection. Mrs Piper gives the children back their innocence and childhood. But are the townsfolk sufficiently grateful for her efforts?
